Bellas Athanasios

He is Professor Emeritus of financial accounting at the Department of Business Administration, University of Patras, Greece. He has published numerous articles in international and Greek scientific journals on international accounting standards, foreign direct investment (fdi), cost management and banking. His teaching experience, at both graduate and postgraduate level, is centred on cost accounting, financial management, budgeting and budgetary control. His professional background originates from the banking sector where he served for several years as a senior administrative member of a dominant Greek commercial bank. He has also served for a period of about ten years as an advisor, special secretary and managing director at the public administration field and other state controlled entities. He obtained substantial experience from his cooperation and work with private sector companies, either as a member or head of their board or as an advisor and independent consultant to them. During recent years he has been involved as a coordinator or project manager in the implementation of studies about the socioeconomic impact of major infrastructure works. In this context he is the founder and currently Chairman of b.o.d. of Observatory of Road Networks in Western Greece and Peloponnisos (POADEP).
